How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I have built a poultry house and the new house that I have since built from the same transfers. These are things I never thought I would accomplish anytime soon had I not received GiveDirectly transfers. I now have enough space to practice poultry keeping without having to be in conflict with my neighbors. The new house that I have since constructed is also one of the greatest achievements that I would not have achieved anytime soon.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly did so well in giving us money unconditionally. The money has brought total overhaul in my life and I cannot stop thanking GiveDirectly for this. On the other hand I did not find anything that I thought GiveDirectly should have done better. I am just grateful for this great assistance that came in time.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of my second transfer to build a new house and used the remaining amount to pay school fees for my son. For a long time, I have been thinking of building a new house since the one that we were living in was so small and a little bit more uncomfortable for us as a family. Receiving GiveDirectly's transfers provided an opportunity for me to actualize these plans. I have since bought building materials from these transfers and I am looking forward to completing my new house and moving in with my family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have no formal job thus I engage in mixed farming to be able to sustain my family. I have been a poultry farmer for long and I have loved this farming because of its daily eggs production. I have been able to sell eggs to get money to meet other household needs and petty emergencies that arise in day to day life. Even though the risk of predators was a challenge, the biggest challenge I had with poultry farming was the frequent cause of conflicts in my neighbors since they could crossover and destroy their crops. It had always been my wish to keep them in a better structure for easy control but this was not possible to be due to limited resources. The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to achieve my dream of building a better structure to keep my poultry. I am happy that I have peace of mind, live in harmony with my neighbors, and my chickens are safe from predators. I also have easy control of my chickens thus none still complains that my chickens have destroyed their crops in their farms.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I saw that I had received my transfers. I knew that my goal to buy oxen to help me in farming had finally come true. I had wished to buy oxen but could not due to inadequate resources.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I practice farming to sustain my family and this being my major source of income, I always try to improve it to increase my returns. The high cost and poor land preparation had been my major challenges. I had been trying all I could to have oxen to make this efficient and effective but the limited resource could not allow me. When I received my first transfer, I used it to buy three oxen. I preferred this since I will be using them to till my farm when they grow. Hiring oxen to till our farm has been a problem as it is costly and I do not have money at times. This always leads to less acreage of land being cultivated hence less production and food insecurity. I used the remaining amount to buy a wire mesh to use in building a chicken coop. I settled on this because I have been practicing a free-lance poultry project. This always subjected them to predators like hawks and my neighbors also usually complains that my chickens are destroying their crops.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a poultry farmer.I have around a hundred chicken.I have always wished that I could expand this venture. However, this has not been possible more especially because I have not been able to build a good poultry house and fence it to restrict the chicken due to lack of money.Sometimes am forced into dispute with my neighbours when they wander into their vegetable farms.Receiving this money means that I will be a ble to buy enough materials to fence, build a modern poultry house and buy some more chicken for rearing
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon. It is at this time that I get to rest after my duties for the day.I often spend this time in my small shop where I get to interract with several people who come to the shop to buy or those who are passing by.Having people around and talking to them often makes me forget ,for a while, the struggles that I often face everyday in providing for my family
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My spouse and I do not have jobs.We have been struggling to raise our children, paying their school fees as well as providing for their other needs.Without an income, every day is a struggle for us.To me,this is the biggest hardship I have faced
