How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have build a better and spacious house. I used to live in a small house which could not host all the family comfortably. I do small scale farming and the harvest that we get is only for consumption. I did not had a continuous source of income. My children used to sleep at grandma house and this was so risky for them since they had to walk during the night. Currently I have build a better and spacious house. I no longer get stress up on where to host visitors. My children have enough space to so their assignment without any disturbance. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has enabled us to live a better life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and pay school fees. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on building a better house. I used to live in a small house before. I also bought food and a water tank for storing water for domestic use. The rest of the money I paid school fees for my children in various School.i am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early in the morning when I had woken up when I heard the SMS notification on my phone. I wondered who could have thought of contacting me this early and I decided to check it. I was filled with a lot of happiness on seeing the SMS saying that I had received my first transfer of 55000/= from GiveDirectly. I could not hide my joy and I informed my whole family of the good news. They were so happy to hear this and they joined me in the celebration. I gave thanks to God because He had answered my prayer and opened a way for me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The money from GiveDirectly has positively changed our lives. Having finished constructing the house where my boys can sleep in, I no longer have worries about where I will get the money to do so since this is what I have always wanted to do. My boys are very happy about the house because they will no longer have to go look for a place to spend the night. My house is currently under construction and when it gets completed, we will be able to have enough space that can even accommodate guests visiting the household. I will use the other small house that I have been living in as my kitchen. Thank you GiveDirectly for this great support. May God bless you abundantly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The transfer from GiveDirectly has been of great help to us. I was able to build a house for my boys to sleep in and currently I am going on with the construction of my house. I was also able to buy food for my children and they are very happy about this. The reason why I decided to settle on doing the above, is because those are the things that I have always desired to do and I was in dire need of them. My boys have suffered a lot because they did not have their own house to sleep in. They have had to move around looking for places where they can spend the night. I have also been living in a small house for quite some time. This small house has not been enough even to accommodate five people in it. I have kept on postponing the above developments because I did not have that large sum of money to enable me to do them. Most of the money that I have been getting has been going to the payment of school fees for my children.
