Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
The only goal I have now is to build a new house. The one I have now is in bad condition and could collapse any time. This is why I have decided to save my transfers to help me in building a new house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I am financially stable because of the transfers I get from Give Directly. This is because I did not have a stable income before the transfers. I used to depend on a small income from my small grocery business which is the only way I used to get money. Since I had many demands, I was not able to meet my needs in time with the profits from the business. I used to rely on help mostly because the business too was not doing well at that time. Since I started receiving these transfers, I have been able to boost the business by adding more stock and it's now doing well. The improved profits have helped me meet my family needs well and on time. I no longer depend on help as before and I have my own money to handle my issues as I would want.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will have bought the required building materials for putting up a new house. I am currently living in an iron-roofed house though it was built ten years ago and its condition has been worsening on a daily basis. The roof is rusty and whenever there is a strong wind in my area, I have to call a mason to come to repair it because the iron sheets do come off. The mud on the walls too keep on falling off and generally the house is not in a stable condition. For now, I have decided to save my monthly transfers so that I can be able to put up a decent and durable house. I would not want to wait until this one collapses is when I start gathering resources to build a new one. This is why I will use my monthly transfers to buy building materials such as iron sheets, timber and nails to use in building the new house.
