How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is so different because I built a new house and a kitchen through these transfers. I bought building materials which I used to build a new house and kitchen. Previously, I had a small house which could hardly accommodate my growing family and used to cook under a tree as I had no kitchen. My life is beautiful as I have a very beautiful house and kitchen.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
They have changed the lives of people in my society. People have transitioned from thatched roof houses to iron-roofed houses using the transfers. The transfers have elevated poverty in my society. I have a new house and kitchen that can accommodate my large family and I do not have to cook under a tree anymore. Give Directly does nothing wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I had planned with the first transfer by buying building materials like iron sheets, nails, timber and poles to build a new as I had a small house that could not accommodate my growing family. I used the transfer to pay a contractor who built the house. Part of the transfer was used to buy livestock that I am rearing for financial security later for my family. I also built a new kitchen as I used to cook my meals under a tree. I also bought clothes for my family who had clothes that were not presentable.
