Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was cleaning up my house and I heard people announcing that Givedirectly has sent the money they promised. I hurriedly gave my phone to my sister's husband to check for mine and it was confirmed. I was already rejoicing before he returned with the confirmation. I joined my neighbors and we made a big circle and we danced around the town.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Givedirectly has empowered me in such a way I cannot explain. I am overwhelmed by the help I have received from Givedirectly. I will be a house owner and also a business woman soon. This makes me happy everyday.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I've decided to buy three bundles of zinc to build a new house. I kept the rest of the money to buy food and cater to my children's fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"When I receive this money, I plan to build house for my family. Since I moved to Small Geveh some four years ago, I and my family have lived in rental houses. Some of the landlords are very quarrersome. The mockery that we receive when our rent is not paid in time is something that I hope to put an end to when I receive this money. I will then establish a "dry goods" business with the remaining transfers. There is no reliable "dry goods" merchant in Small Geveh. Additionally, this type of business is very profitable (in this region) as a result of low competition and increased demand. Establishing this business will help me raise money for my kids tuation amongst others."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"For the past 6 months, the only thing that has brought real joy to me is the fact that I am being enrolled in GD program. Things have really been difficult for us. I've been praying for financial breakthrough so I can start a business. So GD has answer my praying. Their coming will help us overcome some of our most pressing challenges.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"The primary challenge I currently face is to pay my house rent on time. We pay L$1000 ($6.66) monthly for this house. Paying monthly house rental in a village with no established source of income isn't easy. We sometimes have to endure mockeries from unkind landlord for delayed payments. The next challenge I currently face is to send my kids to school. I have three kids. All are of school-going age. However, none of my kids are currently enrolled. Our "hattie" business cannot raise enough money for their tuation. As a result, my kids are growing up without the privilege of acquiring western education."
