Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was in the evening when I was still busy with the household chores when suddenly, I heard my phone ringing. Upon checking my phone, I realised that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I was so overwhelmed by the good news that I had received that evening. This is because I knew that it would change my life positively. I then informed my spouse who was equally excited then thereafter we embarked on planning how best we would utilize our transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My daily life is different, I am so happy that I am witnessing a big change in my life since I received my initial transfer. This is because my children are all comfortable in their respective institutions without worrying of been sent back home to collect school fees. At the same time, I have peace of mind because I do not need to borrow money or sell any of our household items to raise the school fees. I am so grateful for the support that lifted our lives to a higher level in society.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
School fees have been my major responsibility. This is because I have four children who are still schooling. I am a local businesswoman in the village thus what I earn is nearly enough to sustain the whole family. Therefore upon receiving my transfer I used KES 30,000 in clearing the school fees arrears that were still pending. I then used KES 20,000 in renovating my house by replacing the ceiling board. Finally, I used the remaining amount on foodstuffs and clothes. I am so grateful for the support that brought so much love and happiness into my life.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a mother of 8 with 4 children in secondary school.I am required to pay KSH 140000 per year for their school fees. This has been a challenge to me because I do not have any stable source of income. We have had to sell more than three acres of our piece of land in order to pay our children school fees .This hurts me because the current state of unemployment in the country worries me despite the investment I have placed in my children. Therefore receiving this money will relieve me from the burden of paying school fees and also I will not sell the piece of land
What is the happiest part of your day?
The good health of my family members and the harmony we have had has brought joy to my life.None of family members felt sick or was admitted to the hospital in the past 6 months and this makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest challenge am currently facing is the payment of school fees .Being an entrepreneur I earn KES 700 a day from my restaurant .This amount is insufficient to pay my 4 children's school fees and hence we have had to sell out our assets such as piece of land and livestock
