How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have two children both are boys. The eldest is 15 years old and is in form three and the second one is 10years old and in class four. . I am a farmer and also do sell vegetables, tomatoes and onions. The transfer I got assisted me in buying 24 pieces of iron sheets at Kes. 750 each. Building poles and paid school fees of Kes. 15000 for my two sons. Thank you so much GiveDirectly. You have put a smile on my face.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Receiving this money has bought happiness to my life. My life has changed for the best. I now have a house and even mattres, seats and when paid school fees with ease. I have not seen anything bad with the program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With the second transfer, I managed to buy two seats for my living room at Kes. 2500 each. Bought a bed at Kes. 3500, paid school fees of Kes. 10000 bag of maize at Kes. at 2000 and a goat at Kes.4000. I now have peace of mind since my children are no longer sent home for school fees or even lack food.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in a meeting within my village and I had just been informed that my child had been sent home. On my way home, I received a notification on my phone, and upon confirming it was a receipt of my transfer from Give directly. I was so happy and immediately prepared and went to withdraw the transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily is seeing my children settled in school after clearing all the pending tuition fees.It has given me a hope of seeing a great future for my children.I am grateful for the support Give directly has given me and for making my family smile again.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With the many plans that we had to do, I went ahead and withdrew the money. Firstly, I cleared the tuition fee of Ksh.10,000 which had stressed me, and didn't have anyone to assist me. I had been living in a small grass-thatched house that served as kitchen, bedroom, and living room for my family. I spent Kshs.40,000 on acquiring construction materials( Iron sheets, posts, nails and also it catered for labor costs. I am now happy that the house is on its final stage. With the remaining amount, I bought food that could sustain my family for some time as we anticipate for the second transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a single mother who plait ropes for sale. I live in a single grass-thatched house with my two boys. For a long time now, I have had the desire to build a better and spacious house for my family but the income I get from my job is never enough. I earn a total of KES 200 every single week from plaited ropes which goes to food and clothing leaving me with nothing. I plan to construct a decent house of 24 iron sheets and 40 poles. This will cost me a total of KES 21000. Receiving this money will mean so much to me as it will change the face of my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
During the day I walk around hawking plaited ropes from one center to the other. This leaves me so exhausted by the time I am done. When I get home in the evening I take a rest and also catch up with other members of the family. This, therefore, makes evening the happiest part of my day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Raising school fees for my children has been the biggest nightmare to me. I have two sons who are both in school, one in secondary level and the other in primary. Most of the time my kids are out of school because of unpaid arrears amounting to KES 15000. This has made them drop as far as their performance is concerned and this is not going down well with me as a parent.
