Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the completion of the construction. I had given up on completing the construction after my husband lost the job he used to do hence making it hard for us to provide for my growing family and completing the house construction. I am so happy currently to live in a good house I had wished for long to have it.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My transfer came in the morning when I was asleep together with my children and my in-law-mother. When I saw the text I felt so happy and felt like calling GiveDirectly to say thank you. I called my husband immediately at that moment to share the good news and he was also happy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent KSH23500 on building materials-sand and cement, KSH 7700 on my family food, clothing, and utensils and daily expenditure, KSH5500 on renovating my house, KSH 5000 on loan repayment, KSH 5000 on paints, KSH 4000 to buy wire mesh and KSH3500 on my children school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this cash transfer will mean my kids go to school and also aid me to open a small shop to run as a business. Thank you GD.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up feeling fine, energized and ready to partake on what the day has to offer.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being raised by a single mother with no job, life was so tough in the sense that the struggle for basic commodities was real. I remember I could go days without food and as the situation continued to worsen, I had to drop out of school and try to do casual labour to try and help my mum cater for my young siblings. For me this is the biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
