How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life was difficult before the transfers. I was sleeping on a mat. My children and wife had few worn out clothes. And the house we were living wasnt at all habitable. Thus before the transfers i made it a priority to fix all these issues. These were my goals to be accomplished. Now am a happy person, i managed to achieve my goals through the transfers i received. I have bought matress, clothes and i have built a better house. I have no any other goals at the moment.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is helping us the needy and the poor and to say that there is some wrong it is doing, that will be a lie.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Am now raising goats. I bought four of them at 25 thousand kwacha each. This is my safety net. In addition, the transfers came in when i worried how am gonna pay school fees and provide other necessary things like books, school uniforms and bags for my child. He is in standard 8 and doing selfboarding in Madeco. Thus some of the transfers i used for paying his fees and his upkeep allowance

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am more than grateful to GD Malawi for having enrolled me into the program as I believe that this money will help me purchase enough food as well as fertilizers for the next growing season so that I harvest enough next year and do not have to starve anymore.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happy today to have received a phone from GD as the one I had was old and in bad shape. This will improve my communication with friends and family

I sleep on an mat and do not have a mattress. This gives me back pains especially when I am waking up.
