How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My biggest plan this year is to have a big coffee plantation farm, worth $. 2500. This is the total cost of farming, manure, seed planting, weeding, and harvesting costs. And, it is going to take 3 years to harvest. I have a small clinic that will facilitate the coffee plantation costs and the moment this dream comes true, I will be able to feed my family, and pay for my son’s school fees and other development projects.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I thank GiveDirectly for the far It has bought us. I am happy about the transfers I received for the two months, a sum of Kes. 110000 which I could not get anyhow. May God bless you. On the other hand, I do not have any complaints at all since I have not seen any. Thank you so much GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Receiving these transfers from GiveDirectly has been of great help to me and my family. I live with my wife and my three years old son. I am a dentist by profession and own a clinic and my wife is a police officer. The second transfer came when I needed it the most and it helped so much in building my two cows’ house, a dream come true. Whenever it could rain, the cows could be rained on and the rain would destroy their food, and during drought, they would starve due to lack of enough food. The money also helped in clearing the $7000 land debt I had plus fencing the same land. Thank you so much GiveDirectly for your support.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was already out in my workplace when I heard my phone vibrating upon checking, it was an MPESA message confirming a receipt of the promised transfer by Give directly officers a few weeks ago. I was very happy and thanked God and I knew the plans I had would commence immediately.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the payment of land that I had acquired but had not finished payment. I am happy that I am rightfully the owner of the land which is additional to the small piece that I had. I hope to do more with my second transfer.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After the withdrawal of my first transfer, I spent KES 30,000 in paying for a land I had acquired but had not finished paying. This is an additional piece to the small piece that I have. I am grateful since I now have a place to do more farming activities. With KES 9,000 I used it tilling my land and also planted beans seedlings. I am happy since the crops are in good condition and we are looking forward to harvesting in a few months. I also used KES 7000 in cutting timber which will use to extend my house. The extra room will be used as a store. With KES 3,000 I used it to transport to school and back home where I study part-time. The remaining amount, I spent on buying clothes for my entire household members.
