How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I have been able to start a poultry keeping project. This has enabled me to live a stress-free life because I can easily meet our daily needs without much struggle. Chicken is a staple food for the people in this region. I rarely miss customers which means I am never broke. Starting another poultry farm like this one means I will be empowering myself more.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal in life is to start saving some money towards the purchase of a piece of land. I am planning to take a loan to achieve this after accumulating my savings for some time. Also, I am planning to plant some livestock feeds.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now able to support my spouse in meeting our daily needs. We have divided some of our household expenses, for instance, I use my transfers to buy food while my husband concentrates on paying school fees for our children. This has also enabled him to start doing some projects since he can at least save some amount. I no longer feel like a burden, I feel worthy and of great importance, because I can now chip in and even be consulted before decisions concerning my family are made.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, my life will have changed in that my poultry keeping project will have grown. I am also optimistic that I will have taken a loan towards achieving my dream of owning a piece of land. I will be using the income from this project to repay the loan. Very soon, I will have forgotten about looking for formal jobs and instead employ people from my village.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I no longer miss food as part of the money which I get from GiveDirectly, I can spend part of it to buy food for the family. My husband would send us money and I would spend to buy more food in bulk which would sustain us for the whole month. Before, We would run short before he would send us more money for the use which would force us to skip some meals.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I will save my next transfer to enable me to buy more chicken and build a poultry house. I believe having chicken will be a great investment to me in that I will get some eggs I which when I sell some I will earn money to cater for my family needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I do not depend entirely on my husband for the family support. The money which I receive from GD has enabled me to take care of various family expenditure which includes buying food and farming.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, we would like to buy a piece of land where we will carry out more farming activities. The current piece of land is smaller and we would like to do more farming. I believe that we will have more spaces for farming and that we will lack no food anymore having enough space for farming.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
When I received the these transfers i decded to completely change the face of my family, how people used to look at us and makes things much different. as compared to how it w as in the last four months my children are well dressed well, feeding healthy and also their schooling is okay. As part of the difference with how my life was in the last four months I have managed to obtain a heifer which I am now rearing.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
having been settling a loan for the last three month have not given me a chance to start any new investment and now that I am almost done, I have a plan to obtain a bigger loan. this is due to the fact that I have a plan to buy a heifer which I will be rearing. At the moment I can say that I have a brighter future if at all the goals and ideas I have generated in the past few months will come to pass. In our region, we have several cooperatives which are giving out loans at a lower interests; those are the ones I will be pick ing on since they will give me a manageable loan. I will start paying back in the immediate month using GD money since it is the only sure source we have at the moment.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
for many years , I have been struggling with my own problems with neither a source nor anyone who can trust me for a loan. I have always been forced to work extra harder on my small piece of land. I would always admire my neighbors who were ever credit worth since they would borrow lump sum amount even from the banks and use in establishing bigger projects but to me the only person who would trust me was my husband. I had no security to use in obtaining any credit and not only that was a problem but also the source of income to pay it back in case I find someone to give me a loan. GiveDirectly came in enrolling all the members of the village and I was not sure that I would pass their criteria since in my mind thought they were also out to give us loans. to my relief I got it well from the pre-enrollment briefing best known as Baraza that it was a free cash transfer which was meant for everyone in the village. right now i can walk to anyone in the village and ask for a loan without being asked many questions. at the moment I am repaying a loan which I took some three months ago where I have been paying 1500 KES monthly for a total of 6 months. Thank you Give directly for bringing back the trust on us whenever we need a credit.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
it has been my prayer that I may start a zero grazing unit in our household though it has been very hard dure to the resources which were not enough. At the moment I have acquired a new job and habve enhanced my saving towards the same and in the next six months i expect to have started a good dairy farming. this will be the climax of implementation of the ideas i have been holding in my mind since. I have realized that everything is possible and all i needded was just a little support and I am good to go. thank you GiveDirectly for bringing this project to our area, we are making great changes and it is our prayer that you may reach ourt to other needy people.
