How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I woke up one morning and heard my neighbors rejoicing, everyone knows that only one thing that make us happy which is GD transfer so it certainly down on me that it was the transfer that has been sent. I wasn't really happy because my first money was stolen by an agent so I thought it would have been the same case. However there was still a little hope, when I checked my phone I saw mine, I only smiled a bit.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
From my own judgement, Givedirectly, has been doing quite well in reaching out to us poor people. Their method of delivering cash and allowing us decide what to do with it has positively affected our livelihood. I never had a dime to feed my family, I had to make cassava farm to sustain us but that wasn't much. Give Directly transfer has helped me a lot, I now have a small business to feed from, we no longer have to stay hungry the whole day. I'm grateful for that and I see nothing that GD is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My greatest desire has been building a house and also expanding my business. Nonetheless, I couldn't achieve all these due to low finances. Therefore, when I received my transfer, I bought additional goods (rice and oil) to expand my business. Bulk of my money was also spent on transportation. Finally, my balance money was used to buy one bundle of zinc so that I could replace the old thatch over my house.
