Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The most evident change is that we have acquired the most basic household items at home such as utensils, bedding. These are items that we could not afford to acquire due to the many family responsibilities at home. We also paid off a debt thus repossessing our farmland.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The money was sent early in the morning when we had just woken up. My spouse read it and informed him that we had received money from GiveDirectly. I was extremely happy at that moment because I had never held such an exorbitant amount of money in my life. I also had many family obligations to meet that required financial support.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first cash transfer to purchase an ox worth UGX 880000 and spent UGX 180000 on a bicycle repair. We also paid a debt worth UGX 300000. The rest of the cash transfer was spent on purchasing household items such as utensils, bedding and food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I have got financial support to help me build an iron sheet roofed house and acquire oxen for ploughing gardens. This because terminates have caused damage to my grass thatched house and it's difficult to find roofing grass nowadays.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning because I would have taken enough rest and the body is still energized.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship faced is maintaining the grass thatched house and ploughing gardens on time during rainy season. I am always forced to rely on other people's oxen which causes delay in planting food crops since they plan for their gardens first before considering mine.
