How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I am now proud owner of a dairy cow. This is an asset to my family that I can rely on in case of a financial crisis. I believe that it will be calving soon and my family will get enough milk for our consumption and for sale.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by ensuring that everyone in our village is enrolled and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent some amount from my second transfer to buy a dairy cow. I believe that it will be calving soon and I will get milk for our consumption. Also, I bought some new beddings and a bed for my family to replace the old tattered clothes that we were using as beddings. I spent the remaining amount to buy basic need for my family. I bought some new clothes, three sacks of maize and other household necessities.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I no longer have any debts that I need to settle like the one that I settled the other day when I received the transfers. I am eagerly waiting for the next transfers that will see me buy dairy cows and other livestock that will empower me financially and enable me settle any financial emergencies that I may face.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received the money from GiveDirectly. Never before had I received such amount of money in my entire life. There and then I knew that my life was going to be completely different going forward now that I owned a piece of land fully.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used all of my recent transfer to clear an outstanding debt of a piece of land that I had partially paid for. I now feel relaxed and relieved after clearing this debt that had always haunted me.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy a cow.At my age,I cannot do most manual jobs and this has sometimes seen my family go through difficult times, especially lack of food. Therefore owning a cow will ensure that my family gets some income through the sale of milk and we can then use this to purchase food
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time when I rest and share a meal with my family.Despite all the challenges I face through the day, being all-together as a family makes me happy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My wife became mentally unstable about ten years ago.Since then,I have tried to get treatment in various hospitals but she is still unwell. She often leaves the homeatead roaming the village and I have to look for her.Because of this,I have been forced to shoulder all the family responsibilities alone, where in normal circumstances she would have assisted me.This strains me alot now that am old. This is the biggest hardship I have faced
