Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I got the cash transfer I was on my way to the borehole. I called one child who was playing with his friends along the road to read it for me. After hearing about the cash gift, I stopped and started bitting the bucket whilst I was dancing. Everybody who saw me, thought I was crazy but I was rejoicing.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I have always wanted to have a biscycle since I had problems with my head due to carrying things which were almost my weight. So I wanted the biscycle mainly for drawing water. Life was very difficult as I used to rely on my two young daughters to carry them for me which could not last for the day. So at times I could borrow a biscycle from my neighbors who at times it was not possible. The cash gift has enable me to own a biscycle that allows me to draw enough water.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I'm so grateful foe the money....I will use part of the money to maintain my house by buying new doorflames and windows as well as doors..
Some of the money will be used to purchase food which has been a great burden for me and my grandchildren..I will also buy new clothes and beddings..
What is the happiest part of your day?
I'm the happiest every morning when I drink water and then go to my farm to cultivate my land...As you can see I'm just coming back from the farm and I'm so happy..
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The major challenge has been that of lack of income which contributed to not having enough food for the entire household...and sometimes we fail to buy relish when maize flour is readily available..
