How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before, I would struggle with financial constrain issues that were never ending . I feel these challenges were attributed with the low payment of 100 KES from doing manual work at a nearby sugarcane farm over the years . Despite all my struggles, I fell short in meeting some of the family needs like paying school fees . Therefore , they were sent home for school fees more often which affected their performance in school . With GiveDirectly's transfer I paid school fees for the whole year and now I am glad since their performance have improved because of their consistence attendance. Secondly , I own a spacious house where all my family members can sleep in hence I am no longer worried of my sons sleeping at my neighbor's like before due to lack of space.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly uplifting my living standards using unconditional cash
to mw it was very spectacular . Today , I am very proud of the spacious house I built and paid school fees for my children as well . I do not see what GiveDirectly did wrong at its work .
What did you spend your second transfer on?
Before , I did not have any livestock at all . I spent almost my entire second transfer to buy two dairy cow. I now get three litters of milk for our family's consumption and sell the surplus milk at the nearby center to meet some of additional needs. I am glad that I have a peace of mind since I no longer buy milk from my neighbors which was very costly on my side in relation with the meager income I did make from causal jobs.
