Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
As a family, we now sleep on good mattresses having purchased new ones with the GiveDirectly transfers. I also recovered my farm land that was taken as security after clearing the debt. Previously, I was sleeping on a very old mattress with all my children and I had a small piece of land to farm.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I became happy when I saw the mobile money message because it gave light to my life and from then misery was no more.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX 1,000,000 of my first transfer for buying 2 cows, I purchased 3 mattresses, a bed, clothes, kitchen utensils, food and paid a medical bill.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I can buy live stock and an ox plough. I have been ploughing my farm land late in the season since I always had to wait for the owners of oxen to finish ploughing their own farm land. This inturn affects crop yields hence food shortage in my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my family is poor health. My children are too sickly and with the situation am in I can't afford better health care for them.
