Currently, I have a saving culture as I have extra income from the construction job that I believe will help me fulfil my long term dreams. Initially, I would depend on the income generated from my construction job for the daily provisions. I ventured into poultry farming to help in the generation of income and also consume some to nourish our lives. This was only possible because of the newfound saving culture I started.

I have a new goal of saving and venturing into livestock rearing to help in the financial security of the family.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to budget easily with the transfers. I can save my income easily to help me fulfil my long term goals. I cannot thank GiveDirectly enough for financial liberation. I have been able to fulfil my needs and also save at the same time as I have the extra income that I do not even work for.

I believe by the end of the six months, I shall have bought the livestock for rearing as financial security for the family. I have always wanted to venture into it so that we will not be stranded financially during any emergencies. By then, I would be bragging about my newly finished house as I shall have bought more cement to finish plastering my house.

I was able to install electricity in my house this past month, all thanks to GD transfers which boosted the savings I have been making from the casual jobs that I do and raised enough money to pay for the amount required for the installation. I have since quit spending on kerosene and forgotten about the inconvenience we were facing having to charge our cell phones at a nearby shopping centre which was not just risky but costly.

I have plans of saving my next few transfers so that I can purchase a cow which is something I have always wanted to own for a very long time but could not afford due to low income. It is expensive to buy a full-grown cow, so I will save just enough to buy a young heifer which I know I will not need to save for a very long time to afford because the transfers are also soon coming to an end.

When my wife left me with my one and a half-year-old child, I had a tough time taking care of him due to his young age and lack of proper knowledge of his needs especially food. These transfers have been facilitating the payment for the milk that I have been taking from my neighbour to feed the baby and other requirements of the baby that I would not have been able to afford. I mostly depend on odd jobs such as house construction or any other casual jobs that I can lay my hands on, but they fetch very little money that would not have made it possible for me to take care of my baby's needs on my own as I have been doing so far with GD's help.

I expect to have bought the cow that I am planning to buy so that when I move into my own compound later next year, I will have something to start me off on livestock rearing.

I recently constructed a new house using the transfers that I have been getting from the organization. I initially used to live in a grass-thatched house which was leaking excessively but today I am so happy to have moved away from that building.

My short vision right now is to be able to cement the exterior parts of my house so that it can be able to last for long into the future.

I have seen a lot of difference in my life from the cash transfers especially in terms of having some assured cash flow at the beginning of every month. As a casual worker, at times getting money is never a surety so it becomes difficult to do some things because getting money tomorrow is never a surety.

My long term goal includes buying cattle such as goats and cows which I will use to pay dowry so that I settle the "debt" once and for all. I know it is not good to live with my wife for this long without paying the dowry but then again its due to my limited finances that I have never been able to do so.

I am currently living a different life in that, I am able to feed my family well and finish my pending projects. Initially, it was a hustle to raise for my projects and household expenditure.

I am planning to acquire cattle fo rearing. This will be an investment in that any time I face a financial crisis I am able to pick one cow or goat and sell in exchange of money.

The biggest difference is that I was able to start plastering the walls of my house. I had recently finished building my house but plastering of the wall was still pending. This transfer helped me jump start the plastering process.

I expect to have finished plastering the walls of my recently built house. I also anticipate having bought cattle and my wife will have restocked her groceries business.

I plan to purchase livestock for rearing and open up a business for my wife.

Currently I am able to keep money aside for the iron sheet unlike before It wasn't possible because my in come was not enough.

In the next six months I will be able to own a heard of livestock and my wife will be running a business of her own. The family will generally be doing well.

The biggest difference is that I have been able to purchase iron sheets in preparation of building in the near future.
