How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different compared to the past as in the last my biggest challenge was insufficient income to support my household...So now i have enough money which i have used to purchase bags of maize as Well as fertilizer for my maize garden for the coming rainy season. Also, i now have clothes and blankets for everyone in the house..After, completing my house,,i will enter it together with my family and i will be so comfortble as it is big and more spacious...I am so thankful for the program.. I am still amazed at how much the organisation has done for me and my family..May the Lord bless you..
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I feel like givedirectly empowers us(people) as it provides unconditional cash which helps in improving our living standards. This is so because I was not told on how to spend the cash so i made my own choices. Secondly, compared to how other organisations work, givedirectly officials visited my home and enrolled me in the program,,so this means that the chief and other village officials were not involved..I saw this as a good thing as sometimes things that go through the chief do not reach me. Lastly, I received a phone and a simcard which in my life I could have never imagined to purchase it on my own.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have used my second cash transfer to build a new hkuse as at first i had a small house which was not fit for me and my children..it was so uncomfortable for the whole family to stay in just a one room house..My first cash transfer was used in buying iron sheets and other building materials such as wires and windowframes...So i thought it wise to to use this transfer to finally build the house and almost half of my second transfer has been used for this project in terms of paying the builders,,buying them food and buying a few iron sheets.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Well, receiving this transfer means that i will be able to deal with most of my financial difficulties once and for all. For example once I get this cash grant I intend to build a proper house that does not leak during the rainy season. I will also be able to buy school needs for my children like notebooks and pens.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is in the morning. Every morning, I wake up with hope and a sense of positivity especially intems of finding food for the family. However as the day gets old, I am stressed as I most of the times fail to earn enough money to buy food for the family on that particular day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is actually lack of enough money to support my family in all aspects. The maize I harvest every year cannot support my family for the rest of the year.
