Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I had no hope of recovering my piece of land from the money lender previously because I didn't have enough money even to pay half of the debt. When I got this money from GiveDirectly, I was in position to pay the money lender and I have got back my piece of land. I now expect increased food production from this piece of land which will save me from food shortage. Furthermore, I have saved part of my transfer to spend for constructing an iron roofed house around January after receiving the second transfer. The iron roofed house will relieve me from the burden of looking for grass for renovating my hut.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
After my daughter in law had received her transfer, she moved to my house to inquire whether I had got mine, she went ahead to cross check with my phone and after told me that I had also received mine too. At that moment, I became very happy because I had got money to off set the debt I had which will enable me repossess my piece of land from the money lender.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to pay off a debt at UGX 1,000,000 that enabled me to repossess my piece of land from the money lender. I bought a mattress and a big basin, I have not spent UGX 600,000 but I intend to spend it with the second transfer for constructing an iron roofed house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving tho money means I will be able to pay my children's school fees in time. When my children complete their education, they will get good paying jobs which will enable them to support us as well. Currently, we spend all that we earn from farming in children's education leaving the family very desperate.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is around 10:00am when I have managed to plan for the day. It makes me happy because I will have got what to eat and the mind is reluxed, ready to plan for the other part of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my family is inadequate land for farming. Much of the land was leased out in order to pay school fees for the children. That has given a very big set back because we can not grow enough food in order to sustain family needs.
