Give directly did well by giving me to money to start building my house.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No! I have no new goals. My house is not in a good condition. It's old. It leaks during the rainy season. My goals have been to build a new house. I am a farmer. Things have not been good for my family. I could hardly afford my children tuition. They dropped from school. I was overwhelmed when I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly. Things will now improve for the best.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does not do anything wrongly. It has changed our lives and given us new and improved lives for the best.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought zinc. I saved some of my payment. I bought a bag of rice and some other food items. I also used some of my payment to buy some household items and clothes for my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was working on my farm when my phone alarmed me. I immediately read the text and a surprise message that I have received a very awesome amount of money from Give Directly. Upon breaking the good news to my family, I was very happy including my children. At least our suffering is about to come to an end.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Give Directly is gradually changing my life. only farming has been the source of my income. The early rain has caused a serious problem for me this year, my farm will not burn and I won't get anything good. I was happy when Give Directly came to my aid. Through the help of the organization, I will build my house and take good care of my children.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The money I received from Giving Directly, I used to buy zinc. furthermore, I pay people to cut my stakes from the bush. The balance money was used for food and transportation.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"My family depend on farming. I have four children, none of my children are going to school because I don't have money to pay their school fees. When I received the transfer from GiveDirectly, I want to establish a business, pay my children school fees and renovate my house".
What is the happiest part of your day?
" I was so excited when GiveDirectly workers started to work in other towns closer to us because we were hopeful that our town would have selected, last week Tuesday (January 25, 2022) they came here but I wasn't in the town, I got the information from the town people. The transfer will improve my family life. My children are not in school, my house is leaking and my family don't have enough food to eat. I'm going to use the money to settle all my family problems".
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"The biggest challenge I faced is food security. My farm didn't produce more crops last year and we don't have enough food to eat. The little food I havested from my farm last year has finished. I have to work for others before getting some food for my family".
