How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed greatly since Give Directly came into my life. Now I live in a good house made of timber and I got good furniture. I feel good when visitors come to my home I am no longer embarrassed to be the host. I feel proud I was able to buy I cow because out of it I can make a living and sustain myself even after Give Directly have finished their project in our village.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly is not biased. I feel they give everyone an equal chance to receive the transfers. At their initial stage, they usually enrol everyone who is a dweller in that village. It is after that that they now vet people depending on their criteria. I am lucky to be among the beneficiary. l only wish they would consider enrolling all villages so that we can be at the same level
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my transfers I spared part of the amount to buy building materials for completing my house which was half-way done with the first transfer. I used some of the amounts to buy two sacks of maize. It is usually cheaper to buy maize in bulk because it's cheaper and more efficient. I also bought and water tank to store water during the rainy season and save us the hustle of going to the river when the dry season sets in. I did not forget to pay my tithe, I always believe God blesses whoever remembers to give their tithes. I am a staunch Christian and tithe is a topic that is non-debatable, to me its like I debt I owe God. I then decided to invest in a heifer and a bull. I believe it will grow and add value to my home to buy giving birth and providing milk. Apart from that I also thought of filling my house by purchasing some household items such as furniture, radio, battery and a few bedding. It has been long since I bought clothes for my family. We have been wearing tattered clothes which were embarrassing but we did not have a choice. Finally, I gave a small amount of money to my in-law kids to buy their personal items. I am now proud that I was able to meet most of my needs and I feel at per with my neighbours in my village.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that we are well fed as a family. We used to struggle to put food on the table through casual work. There was not enough though but now we have all the food we need and some surplus courtesy of Give Directly. I can even rest now compared to earlier when I used to run around to be able to get some little funds for something to feed my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I received the funds. I thanked God that the promise that Give Directly gave us was true. I prayed that God will do them well and bless them.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
We had been hoping to build a house not knowing where we will get funds from. We even had wooden frames but nothing else.So when Give Directly came and sent us the first transfer, it helped us to buy building materials including iron sheets for roofing and labor. We had been living in one small house with our children now we have a new bigger wooden one and we are grateful. We are yet to do the finishing then we will start living in it. We also bought clothes and food. We had many needs but little funds to meet them. Thank you for the funds.
