How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In the last four months, I have been able to pay school fees for my children in school. This was my biggest burden which I really struggled to achieve because of my low income. Since I started receiving these transfers, I have been paying their arrears on a monthly basis which has helped me reduce the balance I had in school. I am glad my children are rarely sent home as compared to before the transfers.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I have a new goal of buying goats. I would want to invest in livestock because of their value increases and when they reproduce, I will have a number in my compound. I can be able to sell some to raise money to meet my needs without much struggles as before.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have been planning to put up a decent house for the last two years but due to low income from farming, I have not been able to achieve the goal. I was giving up on putting up an iron-roofed house and was settling for a grass-thatched house. Grass thatched house was not my first priority but because I do not have the resources to put up an iron-roofed house, I was going to put up a grass-thatched one. Thank God for GD transfers which gave me a way out of building an iron-roofed house.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will change in the next six months in that I will be having livestock in my compound. I won't feel poor as I feel now because of the livestock. I would want to be in the same position as my fellows in the village.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am a happy person now and I can confess that my life is easier. I can now easily get money to buy and do stuff that benefits my family without necessarily having to work twice as much to earn some little income that would only buy us a meal a day leave alone buy building materials to build a new house. That weight has been lifted off my shoulder and I cannot thank GiveDirectly enough for that.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a new goal of buying more poles and nails and also paying the contractor to build a new house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to buy more building materials that I plan to use in building the new house. I look forward to having a beautiful house that can see my family live in a comfortable house. My house is in a pathetic place which made me the laughing stock of the entire village as my peers have better modern, plastered houses to their names.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I shall have built the new house by then and it would be teh envy of the entire village. I will save more and sell my surplus harvest from the farm to generate more income for my family. This will change my life so much as I would have to hardly do casual work to generate income for my family, which is always tedious.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Coming up with the idea of building a new house was decision we decided as a family together with my wife because its something that we had desired to do in the past but due to financial constraints, we were never able to accomplish it. However, for the last four months, we have been so serious and the number of iron sheets that we have been buying has been increasing every single month.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I expect the next few months to be as good as the last few months. My plan for the next four months is still to buy more iron sheets until such a time when I accumulate them to forty new sheets. When that time comes, I will then decide to erect the new house which will be either a three or a four bed roomed house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have seen a lot of changes in my life but the most significant change for me is that I have been able to buy more than ten new iron sheets that I will definitely use to build a new house for my family. We have been combining efforts with my wife every month where each one of use saves part of the cash transfers we receive from the organization and that is why we have progressed so fast.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
After building my new house, the new challenge will be to cement it which is like doing the final finishing touches. I will have to buy sand, cement and other materials that are required for such a process. I will ensure that this is done by making sure that we save some little cash together with my wife.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is sickness. Last year, 2017 I was severely sick that I almost loss my life. I was bed ridden for four months and in severe pain. I was tortured and stressed up because I couldn't take care of my family. It was so hard indeed.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at night when we get together on the table taking supper. We get opportunity to share stories, make jokes and learn from one another as a family. We are happy to see one another alive in the family.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I plan to spend my transfer on paying school fees for my children. From my subsistence farming I am unable to meet all the household needs. I further intend to use the transfer on building a new house because I currently stay in a grass thatched house that is leaking whenever it rains. Improving my house will enhance our comfortability in the house.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of is getting married. It took me long time to get a wife due to poverty. I was finally lucky to be accepted by my beloved wife Rose. We already have three children and I am very proud to have achieved this.
