How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, I do not have a defined goal that I am ready to pursue once I get some money. usually, I plan what to do if I have the money in my hands. This is the trend I have grown with because once I plan without money I will be stressed by the goal that I will have set. To curb this kind of stress I learned to plan for something readily available.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Personally, GiveDirectly has uplifted my living standard. Truly speaking, if it were not for GiveDirectly, I could not have gotten the livestock and I would also be using the poorly state traditional bed which I grew up with. I am saying so because I had no prospects of getting huge money like this to change my living standard.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I withdrew the money, I opted to do what I promised the officers who came to my home. The first thing I did was buy a cow for KES 16000.00 and three goats for KES 10500.00. The aim of buying these animals was for milk purposes and business respectively. Since goats have a fast birth rate, I choose them for business once they multiply. I also bought a bed and a mattress for KES 15000.00 because the one I had was the traditional one and it was not in s good condition. Thereafter, I used the remaining amount for food.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was about 8 o'clock, I was tethering my goats on the field. I received continuous messages on my phone. Being illiterate, I completed my work before going home for my helper to confirm the messages. After reaching home, I called my helper to verify the message and she informed me that I had received my transfer from GiveDirectly. I felt extremely happy and at peace for receiving my transfer since I will be able to accomplish my goals using the transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am debt-free after completing the payment of my land. I am no longer receiving constant threats. I thank the organization for the transfer which has made my dream of owning land come to pass. Furthermore, I was able to boost my livestock rearing after purchasing high breed galla goats which will improve the breed of my livestock.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I thank GiveDirectly for the transfer which has enabled me to complete the payment of my piece of land. I had started the payment but it stopped due to financial inadequacy. I used KES 25,000 to settle the land debt since the seller was threatening to resell it to another person. My plan is to utilize this place for farming to produce enough food for the family. In addition, I invested KES 20,500 in livestock rearing by purchasing 3 high breed goats and one dairy cow will ensure that I have a steady supply of milk for the family. I also used KES 5,500 to purchase a modern bed for my family since My bed was small and I had to sleep on the floor whenever I am visited by, guests. The remaining amount assisted me in providing food for the family by purchasing food stock.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means investment to me. I do subsistence farming and I have nothing as investment for future use. I want to buy two cows and ten goats as investment . This will cost ksh.70000 . I will use the remaining amount to buy food and also upscale my subsistence farming.
What is the happiest part of your day?

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Last year I suffered from malaria for two weeks. I did not have any money to go for medical check up because I have no any investment . I used traditional method , that is using herbs to treat malaria.I almost lost my life. That is the biggest hardship I faced in life.
