Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
How I felt when I received my first transfer from GiveDirectly: One morning in October, my children heard that other people from our town have received transfer from GiveDirectly on their mobile accounts. They immediately took my phone to check if I received mine; when they checked the mobile money account, they saw the money there and told me. I was very happy that day because I have been suffering too much to raise money for my expenses.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Two of my children were not able to complete their school year. I can't afford to pay for my children education and provide food for them. The little crops I harvest from my farm can be sold for an amount that cannot cover my family basic needs. If I receive this cash transfer I will make a larger farm. This farm will produce more yield that I can sell to generate more money to send my children to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My remaining children whose tuition I could afford, completed the academic year and were promoted to the next level.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My current challenge is I do not have money to pay for casual laborers to work on my farm. The crops I have on my farm can not produce more yield because I am the only one who does the planting and maintenance.
