Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I got so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. It came at a time that we did not have even food to eat and this was the sweetest news that I have ever received. I was also sickly and the money helped me a lot.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now happier than I have ever been before. Having bought enough food and having bought a dairy cow has meant that we are more secure in terms of food and nutrition.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 33000 to buy a dairy cow and used the remaining amount to buy food for my family. I did not have a dairy cow to milk and buying one was a number one priority for me. I am now happy to own one and am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the support.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I shall be able to have some assets as an old woman because I have given out all what I had to help in educating my great grandchildren. I am a woman who grew up at an era when education was not yet known. It was a thing of the Europeans and our parents didn't want anything to do with it. I have however grown to learn that education is all what a human being could ask for. I have seen tremendous changes in people's lives because of education that's why I sacrificed all my livestock to see my great grandchildren go to school. I would like to use these transfers to purchase livestock because this is going to be a long term investment of the transfers and even if in the future when am no longer here the livestock can be sold to take care of school fees for my progeny.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have learned to be content and happy with everything that happens in my life so I wouldn't say there has been a major thing that has given me so much happiness but only that I am happy to be alive today.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My challenge only is having to stay all alone in this house all day long. I can't walk far at the moment, I just take time to busk in the sun in the morning and come back to the house at midday. Sometimes my children forget to come and see me and it makes me feel sad, those are the main challenges that I go through.
