How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Some of the goals that I have include being able to buy land for my family and build a permanent house for them. I also have a goal of being able to pay school fees for my children comfortably and this will happen when I set up a big shop which I've always wanted to open for a long time. I have some savings set aside that will see me implement my goals
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Some of the things GiveDirectly does best is being able to give us the transfers personally for us to choose on how to spend the transfers. Also, for them to reach people of molinga village who mostly had nothing going on for themselves was so thoughtful of them. I haven't seen anything that GiveDirectly should improve on.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my most recent transfers buying building materials for me to complete the construction that I had already started using the first transfer I received. I was able to buy three hundred logs of timber, tiles for my floor, and a ceiling. I am happy I was able to complete my house and I thank Givedirectly for enabling me to do so.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Receiving a confirmation message of the first transfer from GiveDirectly was the happiest moment for me. This was an assurance of the initiation of all the projects we had been planning since I was enrolled in the program. We had made plans earlier to avoid the rush decisions once the transfer is in. My husband was out to his usual work when I received this news and had to forward the message I had received to him. He responded by calling back and promised to be home earlier as we needed to make our final adjustments on the budget before withdrawing the whole amount.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Construction of a semipermanent house is all I have always wished for and just like any other member of my household, I am grateful and consider this the biggest difference in my daily life so far. Even though I have not moved into the new house since the construction is still underway, I am happy that the work is 75 percent done, and the remaining part will be completed in the first week after receiving the second transfer.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I had been living in a mud-walled house with my family of six that was hard to maintain as I had to keep filling the crevices that would otherwise have let insects and cold breezes on the rainy seasons. The roof was already old also and could not have lasted much longer if I had not received the transfer. I was glad to confirm the receipt as we had been planning to initiate the construction of a better house with wooden walls and new iron sheets. By the time I received this transfer, we had already obtained some iron sheets meant for the new house and had to top up to a total of 44 iron sheets enough for the plan we had drawn. I also had to buy trees to cut into timber, purchase nails, spend some on settling the labor charges during transportation, and finally initiate the construction that is currently at its advanced stages. Even though the first transfer could not complete the construction work, I am glad that we are currently working on the interior and hoping that a small part of the second transfer will facilitate the completion and painting of the walls. I am grateful to this far and hope that we will soon be moving into the new house so that we can demolish the old structure that we had been living in.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Luckily, I live in a spacious mud-walled house which I built more than ten years ago. I have had a plan to renovate it by changing the walls to timber to make it more decent and reduce the tusk of repairing the mud walls frequently but I have not been able to accomplish this due to scarce resources. To be receiving this money means I will accomplish my goal by spending KES40000 to renovate my house. I am certain I will have a good-looking house and I will not be required to repair as frequently as it is with the mud-walled house. I will also be able to put the money I would have spent on my house renovation to other financial needs in my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am a businesswoman operating a small shop meaning that I am always busy during day time. The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my family is home since this is the time we bond as we share our supper before we retire to bed.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I got married at a tender age while my husband and I were still in school forcing me to drop out of school. The biggest hardship I have ever faced in my life is bringing up my family right from school without any source of income.
