After visiting a commercial poultry farm in the nearby town, I was deeply motivated to think of venturing into the same business but on small scale for the start. At the moment, this is a new goal that I am looking forward to, and hoping that I will soon be able to raise enough capital towards the same. In my view, it is an easy project to run and a good source of income that will not take a long time before giving back the returns.

In my opinion, the project was effective to the needs of every household since we got the opportunity to plan and address any challenge we had. The sensitization that was done in the initial stages was crucial too and it played a great role in making everyone know that it was individual responsibility to change their living standards with the same amount that everyone received. This motivated everyone to work hard as we felt it will be a great shame to exhaust the transfer without any difference in our lives. Everything done by GiveDirectly met all the expectations we had and I can not complain at all.

The second transfer came in when I had set all things right after spending the first transfer on all the needs that I felt were urgent in my household. This second transfer was hugely invested in livestock, in that, I bought two heifers at a total cost of KES 34000 to add to the other dairy cows I already had in my field. I had been very dependent on the sale of milk that has always sustained my family and an addition of two will soon increase the production, thus household income. I spent 370 dollars of the first transfer on purchasing heifer and a oxen. I had always wished to invest on livestock because it helps in case of emergency arising at home, this includes but not limited to paying school fees for my children. I also spent 100 dollars as an instalment for the motorcycle which I purchased on hire purchase, yet to clear the balance when I received the second transfer. This motorcycle is a perfect transfer to my place of work. It saves time and money. The rest of the money I bought food and clothes for the family. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.
