How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
This financial support has enabled me hire 3 arces of land and I have acquire a cow, new household items(bedings and mattresses) that have given me comfortable night sleep. Previously, I slept on mat that was so uncomfortable and I had a shortage of food because I didn't have enough money to hire a piece of land to cultivate.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me unconditional cash that enabled me construct an iron roofed house, acquire new household items and a cow. GiveDirectly did nothing bad according to me.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase a cow, bicycle, household items, food and paying for my spouse treament. I have not yet spent UGX 113,000 but I intend to spend it for purchasing building materials.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am sleeping on a comfortable and I wear decent clothes. My children are now healthy because I was able to treat them. Previously, I was very worried and sickly with no money to treat myself and children. I am very grateful to GiveDirectly for the cash transfers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The cash transfer was sent lat at night while I was asleep. However, early the next day I was able to check my phone and I was surprised to read a mobile money message from GiveDirectly. I checked my account and indeed, I had received money from GiveDirectly. I felt very happy because GiveDirectly had chosen me and this was an opportunity for me to change my life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase bricks worth UGX 320000 and UGX 200000 was spent on medical treatment of the children. I spent UGX 200000 on purchasing two mattresses and I deposited UGX 600000 on the purchase of timber, nails and iron sheets. The balance of UGX 300000 I am planning to spend it on paying the builders.

The happiest part of the day is afternoon while chatting with neighbours.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is how to raise money for paying my children's school fees who are studying in Zula primary school.
