Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to buy a heifer as a remembrance of the transfers I received from this organization. Since this help won't last forever, I thought a dairy cow would be the best way to invest this money because not only will I be getting milk for consumption but also earn income by selling the surplus. The cow will also be reproducing and with no time my cowshed will be full.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I no longer strain much looking for additional cash. Through the transfers I got from Give Directly, I was able to improve my farming by purchasing enough farm inputs. For the first time since I started farming, I was able to incorporate other crops such as cabbages among other vegetables. This greatly boosted my income since I was able to satisfy different customer needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I believe that my life will have greatly improved. Since I was able to use all the required farm inputs, I believe I will have a bumper harvest. In addition to that, I will have purchased the dairy cow hence increase my livestock assets. With these two investments, I will no longer struggle to do low paying casual jobs. I can comfortably sustain myself with sales from both my dairy project and my farming activities

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have two children in secondary school and other two in primary. The biggest hardship has been in raising money to pay their school fees and cater for other domestic needs for the rest of the family. Since I mainly depend on farming to raise money, sometimes I am faced with uncertainties like change of weather and pest infestation. These factors affect the yield thus low returns.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening because this is the time I look back and reflect on the success of the plans I had laid down in the morning.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my monthly transfer on commercial farming. I am a short term crops farmer and at the moment I have tomato seedlings ready for transplant. Therefore upon receiving the transfer, I am planning to buy fertilizers and embark on transplant. I will also purchase maintenance pesticides for my crops. This kind of farming will enable me to take my children through school.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
I have educated four of my children through secondary education and one of them has gone through a short course and acquired driving skills. This is the achievement I am proudest of because I have invested in my children, who in turn are going to get employed and raise their living standards thus becoming independent.
