How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The only goal I have is to complete my house and move in with my family. Before GiveDirectly came in my town, I had wished to have a house that will have more rooms. However, that wish was far from achieving as farming is the only source of livelihood for us as family. I am happy and greatful that GiveDirectly came to my community with this case transfer program . I proudly say that the program has helped me to build the house that I have long wished to have.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly as an organization working in my community has not done anything wrong. As for what GiveDirectly does well, I can say when the organization entered into this community, every house in this town was visited to determine eligible households. In this way, no household that deserves to be enrolled was left out except where the household chooses not to be part of the program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
As the balance transfers were coming in, we decided my wife and I to buy other building materials such as nails, planks, and additional two and a half bundles of zinc. The first transfer I received my wife and I agreed that were should pay the children's school so that they can continue being in school. I was able to pay the contractors who I hired to build my house from the last transfer. I also able to buy food for the house.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have already started my house project with my previous transfer received from GiveDirectly. I couldn't complete my building project due to very limited finances. However, when I received my recent transfer, I will complete my building project and also use portion of my money to set up a new business. Finally, my balance transfer will be used to purchase my children clothes for the season. I am grateful to GD for this life changing opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
From my own judgement, GiveDirectly treats everyone that is part of this program fairly and equally. GD has been doing quite well in changing our lives for the best. I am so pleased to have benefited from this grant provided me by GiveDirectly. Meanwhile, I see nothing wrong that GD is not doing well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was in dire need of finances to complete my house and also buy Christmas clothes for my children. Therefore, when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I bought two bundles of zinc for $21,000LD to complete my house project. I also used portion of the money to set up a new (slippers) business. My balance transfer was used to buy my children clothes for the season. I appreciate GD for all they've done in transforming the lives of me and my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was cooking when I heard my neighbor shouting that she has received her transfer. After cooking, I went to the network spot to check my phone and I saw my transfer. I dance the entire day. I bought two bundles of zinc to build my new house. I have been living in a house over with thatch over 10 years. The thatch roof leaks whenever it rains. I will soon have a new building for my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life now is am excited about my transfer. I have never handled such amount of money in my life. I make farm, but there is no road for me to go and sell what are can gathered from harvest. This transfer has brought complete break through in my life. The house I have not been able to build in many years, I will soon build it in short time with GiveDirectly money. I feel very happy daily because of my transfer .
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my first transfer on zinc. I lived in a very old house. I built this stick house 10 years ago. I have not been able to get money to build a good house. I make garden, but the road is in a deplorable condition. There is no way to transport my plantain and others materials from my farm to the market thereby making life difficult for us in this town. It is the transfer GiveDirectly sent me that will make me have a good dwelling place.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I wish to be a house owner but don't know how to get the money. I want to build a house for my grandchildren and myself to live in. The house I am currently living is a family house and some times noise and confusion. During the rain season the room that is offered to me for sleeping leaks and at night I can't sleep well. But by the help of GD I think my plan for building a house will be achieved.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The most happiest news is that people got the money they build their houses, send thier children to school and making thier big business. So for that I am very happy that you people are here today right infront of me and I will be receiving unconditional cash transfer. I am over joy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My problem for life I am faced with is looking for money or getting money. Every thing in life before it is done you have to have money in your hand. I promise that if I am blessed to get some of this money I know exactly what to do. Because you people came to help us and this help is good. Tomorrow I will be a house owner. And the remaining money I will do business. Then The challenges will reduce for me.
