How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have made major step towards build a decent house that I wouldn't have made without GD. Among other assets and activities I supported with GiveDirectly's money, I value the most a cow. I looked at it as an added asset that will always support my family. We have more milk produce for both household use and sales. I also expect offsprings from that will always be my security.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has made it clear that they came to help the needy. I have a transparent, corruption-free, kind and fair organization that I had never seen before. I urge them to continue support the poor since I don't see anything wrong in their operations.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have a small house that currently host us comfortably. Considering my growing family, I have planned to build a more spacious decent house that I can move to give my current house to my children. I took my entire second transfer to buy building material that include nails, timber, iron sheets, sand, cement among other in preparation to build a new house. I am glad that I have made good steps towards realising my goal.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought materials ready to cement the floor of my house. I do casual jobs in the village and the small amount of money I get was hardly enough to meet all the basic needs. We have been living in a house with a dusty floor and this was exposing us to respiratory diseases and most of the time we could get cough and other related problems. I have bought all the required materials from the hardware just waiting for the second transfer to enable me to start the process of cementing. My family will no longer be exposed to dust like before and it will reduce the cost of visiting the doctor every other time. I am so much grateful for the support because it has changed our living standards and it has given us hope for a better tomorrow.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy the moment I received my money. I had never received such an amount of money in my life before and I never really thought that GiveDirectly will make good their promise of sending us unconditional cash. I received a call from my friend and neighbor early in the morning that day and he was asking me if I had received any money as he did. I immediately check my messages and the first message that I saw was confirming that I have received 55000 KES from GiveDirectly I felt so happy. My spouse and children were so happy too because we had never received such an amount of money before. I knew I would be able to cement the floor of my house, something I had always wished I could do but which I had not been successful in doing due to little income got from my casual labour.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy building materials in readiness to cement the floor of my house. This, I will be able to do once I get my second transfer. The remaining amount of money from my first transfer was used to buy food and other basic household needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to furnish my house which is in bad shape due to the heavy rainfall that has washed away the paint. I plan to paint the outside part of the house as well as cementing the floor as well as replacing the old iron sheet that leaks whenever it rains. I will then use the remaining part of the money to add two dairy cattle to my herd to boost my income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My usual day begins as early as 6.00 am in the morning whereby i start by milking my three Fresian cows after which i prepare breakfast for my family then head to the shopping center to sell the milk. I then head back home to do the household chores then go to the garden to weed and transpant my crops till late in the evening when i head back home to rest. I am always happy during the day since its the time i keep myself busy to keep off thoughts that may bring me loneliness and bitterness of being childless.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Every woman's desire after marriage is to bear Children. However in my case, i have been married for 20 years yet i haven't been blessed with a child to call my own. I have been subjected to redicule from my in-laws, something which forced my spouse to marry another wife who now has three children and is pregnant with the forth child. I have visited several hospitals seeking for treatment but my efforts have bore no fruit. This is the biggest hardship i have faced in my life
