Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal, for now, is to buy building materials such as iron sheets and nails. Currently, I am living in a grass thatched house which is not in good condition. It is also hard to maintain due to the lack of grass in my area. This is why I have started saving so that I can build an iron-roofed house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
School fees for my children have been an issue in my life ever since they joined school. This is because I used to rely on a small income from casual work which could not enable me to meet all my family needs in time. I would struggle to raise money for fees arrears and in most cases, my children would be sent home regularly. It was not one of my best moments when they were sent home. When I started receiving my transfers from GD, I have been using part of my monthly transfers to pay for their arrears. This has really helped me a lot in reducing the balance they have in school. In as much as I have not managed to clear their arrears, since last year, they have not been sent home for arrears since last year.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I will be having an iron-roofed house in the next six months. Since we started receiving these transfers, there is no single month where GD did not send me my transfers. For this reason, I have a savings account where I have been saving my transfers for the past four months. My goal is to use the savings to buy building materials such as nail and iron sheets. I am now living in a grass thatched house whose roof is leaking and as we are approaching the long rains, I know it will get worse due to strong winds in my area in the long rains season. This is why I have decided to save to build an iron-roofed house so that I may handle the housing issue once and for all.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I used my transfer on buying fertilizer that I used to plant hence got a bumper harvest. We now have enough food that can push us to the next season and even surplus to sell to get money.
I recently joined a merry go round in our village with the intention of saving. I am planning to buy more iron sheets using the savings from the group. Therefore my goal for the next six months is to save religiously and look for an affordable builder in the neighborhood to help start the work of building my new house before the next rainy season starts off. I decided to join the merry go round group to help me speed up with the work of buying iron sheets. I hope that this dream will be successful. Nevertheless, I can't stop thanking Give Directly for enabling us to do such a big project.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new or additional goal in my life for the next four months is building a better house. I am staying in a grass-roofed house that leaks during rainy seasons, I have been longing to build an ironed roofed house but due to low income, I get from casual work it was not possible.
I am a casual laborer and the little money I get from casual work is too little that can't cater for food and other extra development like building a better house. I am saving part of my transfer for buying iron sheets and other building materials to enable me to achieve my dream of building a better house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I am now relieved when it comes to paying school fees for my son who just joined Secondary School. I am a casual laborer and I don't think I could have taken my children up to high school considering the very little amount that I used to earn. There was a high possibility that they could have dropped out of school. GiveDirectly came to our village at the right time, at times I feel that they were God sent. I feel good because there is hope for my son to finish school.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My new goal for the next four months is to build a better house. I am staying in a grass-roofed house that leaks during rainy seasons. I have been longing to build an ironed roofed house but due to low wages that I get from casual work, it was not possible to meet this dream. The little money that I get from casual jobs is only enough to buy food and a few basic needs. I used to live from hand to mouth and I could barely save nothing despite working very hard. I am glad I was one of the beneficiaries of Give Directly because now I can save part of my transfer and buy the necessary building materials
