How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am happy that I was able to complete the house construction. In addition to this, I paid my children's school fees. Prior to receiving the cash transfers, I had spent four good years without any hope of completing the house. I am glad that this opportunity came at the right time when all hopes seemed to be lost.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has changed because I have roofed my commercial house which had stalled for 3years. I'm now very sure that once I get my second transfer, I will fix the doors and start operating again my drug shop. Secondly, I'm debt free this term. Before this transfer, I had debts at school and operated my business from home.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I paid school fees for two children worth UGX 200,000, bought building materials ( timber, 2 trips of sand and iron sheet) worth UGX 1,440,000 and bought utensils worth UGX 60,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means owning oxen and timely crop cultivation. I hire oxen for ploughing which does not come in time because when rains just begin, every body is interested. This effects the timing for the season.
In case of any balance, I will spend it on paying school fees for my children. For now we carry out farming in order to raise fees for the children ehich some times goes not come in time.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is after eating lunch. This is th time when I have been able to place food on the table and my children are now playing a round me. I am able to learn their level of understanding through the games that they play and correct some behaviour whichbis not correct. That makes me happy as a mother of nine.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Having a reliable source of income in order to pay school fees for my children is my biggest hardship. I have two children in secondary education and give in primary education. Paying school fees for them at once is my struggle. They are sent out of school some times due to non payment of fees which affects their academic performance. This leads to poor grades which affects their future livelihoods.
