How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now in that, I managed to buy household items like beds, bed sheets, mattresses and utensils to replace the old and stained bed sheets I used prior to benefiting from GD. There was a challenge of feeding in my home because some days we could eat once a day or nothing at all since there was not enough food. I stock food in the house like cassava, sorghum and bought other food stuffs to supplement on the diet. I bought a bull to pair with someone and we plow together since I used to request for help form others when it came to plowing. I have put aside some money that I will use for constructing a house in future once I'm done with the garden work. Before I received these transfers, I lived a very hopeless life example, I couldn't afford a mere Vaseline for my skin. I couldn't afford changing my bedding's and feed my household. Whenever it came to plowing season, I could work in people's gardens so that they plow for me in return but this came late when rains have reduced since people prioritized the fields first.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my view, GD liberated me and the whole community at large from extreme poverty we lived in. I could not solve my problem alone if it wasn't of GD transfers for example I did not have food in my household. I spent some of these transfers to stock food in the house i.e I bought two bags of cassava and 20 kilograms of sorghum. GD helped almost each and every community member as long as the person met the selection criteria. According to me, there's nothing done wrong by GD.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I got this money, I spent it on buying livestock, feeding my household and saved some money that I will use for constructing a house.
