How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes of course,my new goal is to enroll myself in a tailoring college. Acquiring this new skill would diversify my sources of income and enable me meet my family's day to day needs. I have already set aside a portion of the transfers received for this purpose and I'm looking forward to registering myself in a tailoring school very soon.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly has reduced the poverty in my community,everyone who benefitted from the project has been able to improve their lives in one way or another. My community now has different businesses which was not the case before.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I set aside some cash for joining tailoring school and besides that I was able to start a chicken rearing business. I keep free range chickens for sell and consumption as well. This has been a major boost to our meager income as a family and I'm hoping to expand in the future. I bought 8 more goats which i intend to resell once they are all grown. With the remaining amount,I sent my twin daughters to back school and also sought treatment for myself after breaking my leg in an accident.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
A moment not to forget in my life as I was unwell and emotionally low. I was admitted at the hospital for a while and had been receiving treatment when I received an alert on my phone. My husband was able to read the message to me since I was abit weak. In the wake of the low mood, I still managed a smile and happiness could be seen all over my face. I was able to access the funds and withdraw after about two weeks when I got discharged from the hospital. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly as they sustain and improve livelihoods.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Having had that low moment in life, the funds received from GiveDirectly have given me the zeal to start my very own business of selling deras which I plan to kick start once I am fully recovered.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I received KSH 55000 from GiveDirectly and was happy as I was able to settle quite a number of goals that I had set. As I had been admitted in hospital for treatment, the GiveDirectly funds enabled me to settle the hospital bill of KSH 17000 ensuring a smooth discharge. I set aside KSH 2000 for purchase of food for my home and the balance of KSH 36000, I saved up for my two girls' school fees who are soon joining form one and also use part of the savings to start a business of selling deras.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My two children who are in primary school are most of the time sent home for school fees which is sometimes not available due to the unreliable casual job done by my husband. Upon receiving this money I plan to start a small broiler and layer chicken at my home because there is a high demand in our neighboring town center. I will spend KES 20000 on this business which I believe will greatly help in solving the school fees issues as well as a source of income for my family which will go a long way in providing the family with the basic needs such as food, clothes and other needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Seeing my family in good health is a great source of joy to me. Further more my broken leg is also healing well despite that I am yet to walk comfortably but I thank God the situation is really improving. This has always made me feel great because 5 months ago I had to use crutches to support me in walking. This has brought so much joy not only to me but also to the whole family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I had an accident 8 months ago where I broke my right leg. I have been unable to perform any work so I am depending solely on my husband to provide for the family who does odd jobs which sometimes are not available. This situation has really affected me emotionally and physically and I am only hoping for a quick recovery so that I can get back on my legs and start doing my normal chores and jobs to support my family.
