How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal after receiving this cash transfer was to establish a new business a kind of business that could be able to sustain my famiy for a long term..So I have bought a motorbike which will be operating in Mangochi boma..I believe from the sales, I will be able to achieve my other goals for example that of support my children to complete their studies.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The provision of money without imposing decisions on how to spent it is what Givedirectly does well the most. Also the provision of phone and simcards is a good thing as it helps in communicating with relatives who lives far.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my second cash transfer to purchase a few bags of fertilizer in preparation for the next rainy season.. With the money, I have also been able to establish a new business as I have bought a motorbike..As I'm talking to you right now, the motorbike has already started working on the road..I intend to use the profits from this business to support my son who is in secondary school.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy and very excited for the money..The money gave me hope that throughout this year my household will not be starved as with the cash I could be able to purchase food.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is that we now have a better sleeping place since I managed to purchase a mattress and a few blankets. I now have enough kitchen utensils in my kitchen compared to the past as I have bought new things and I am able to bring out a chair for visitors when they visit my home since I now have new plastic chairs.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the cash on purchasing a mattress as I did not have a better sleeping place..I also bought 10 bags of maize due to insufficient food in the house. Furthermore, I purchased kitchen utensils such as plates, basins, spoons and pots so that I can have enough to be using in my kitchen. Lastly, I bought some furniture in the house such as plastic chairs and I have saved some of the money so that it can be used for other purposes in the house.
