How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life different than it would have been if I never received my transfer in that, I have now reliable source of livelihood after starting livestock rearing with my transfers. Currently, I own one cows and 5 goats and some are about to give birth. Additionally, I was able to construct a decent shelter for my family. Earlier, I was living in a small house which was about to collapse. Furthermore, I now have enough food for the family unlike before when we could spend the whole day without eating.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well for sending cash which has boosted our living standards. Through the transfers, I was able to start a livestock rearing and constructed a better shelter for myself.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase 5 goats at 50 dollars each in order to boost my livestock rearing which I had started with my first transfer. Being old and jobless this is a reliable source of income to depend on whenever I face any financial needs. I also bought enough food stock for the family. Furthermore, I spent $250 to constructing a respectable house for the family because the one I had was very small and about to fall down. I was receiving constant mocking from my neighbours due to the poor conditions of my house.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the transfer notification early in the morning. I called for my helper to confirm who had sent the message. On checking to confirm the sender, I was greatly overjoyed because I had received my first transfer from GiveDirectly and thanked them for the transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before the coming of GiveDirectly I was sleeping on the floor using rags of used clothes and old mats. I was not able to buy new beddings since my financial status is not good. When I received my first transfer, I bought a new mattress and a bed and replaced the old rags and mats. I am now sleeping comfortably on my new beddings, which makes it to be the biggest difference in my daily life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent a bigger portion of the first transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets, building poles and nails to construct a new house. Initially, I was staying in a grass thatched hut. I am happy that very soon I will have my new iron roofed house completed and move in. In addition to this, I also spent part of the transfer on buying a new bed and a mattress to replace the old beddings that I have been using for a long time. At least I now enjoy a comfortable sleep at my old age. The old rags were not good even for my health at my age. I spent the remaining amount to buy foodstuffs and meeting other households needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to fulfill my dream of owning oxen. I intend to use 40,000 shillings to buy 2 cows for ploughing which will help in any of my financial emergencies. Also, I will use 30,000 shillings to buy a bed and mattress, I will use 10,000 to start a small retail shop. The remaining amount will be used to expand my house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I usually go to the farm during morning hours. I move to different farms searching for jobs. I spend the whole day doing my job and it always becomes tiresome. The evening is the happiest part of my day because this is the time I return home from work and relax, also at this time we share meals with family and sharing our daily experiences.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial Crisis is the biggest hardship in my life. As a subsistence farmer sometimes it very difficult to get the farming job so it forces me to spend like two weeks without any job.I usually get an income of 2000 shillings per month which is not enough to buy the cows as well as starting a retail shop business.
