Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the gratitude I sincerely feel seeing that GiveDirectly has helped me in a way that I really did not think anyone would. My husband left me sixteen years ago to myself without any kind of help. This money had given me an inner peace to resettle my self. Prior to getting this money, I have been doing multiple kinds of businesses such as buying and selling of produce, transporting charcoal to the north, among others. However, this came to a halt when I got sick and my health could not fully support me to do heavy activities. I am therefore delighted that I received this money at the right time.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received my money because I knew that this money would now help me in most of my financial needs given that my husband left me many years ago.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy some three doors at Ugx 410000, two trips of sand at Ugx 170000, five bags of cement Ugx 130000 and paying labor at Ugx 300000 that helped to renovate my house. I then bought some household items such as food stuffs, mattress, clothing for my children and myself totaling to Ugx 400000. I am molding bricks using the balance that I plan to use to build a kitchen.
