How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer. This is because I was able to meet my wife's hospital bill without selling a dairy cow as I had planned. In addition, I have been able to build a house for my children. Due to this, they no longer sleep at my neighbors house as they did before. Because of this, I ama now assured of their security at night as they no longer walk around the neighborhood.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving out financial aid and I do not see anything that they do not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my transfer, I spent KES 40,000 to settle hospital bill since I received it at a time when my wife had been admitted. This came at a time I was in dire need of money and was still looking for a buyer to purchase one of my dairy cows. Using the remaining amount, I bought some food and other household necessities for my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 1pm while I came back home from livestock keeping when I got the good news from my family.I had received KES 55000 from GiveDirectly that we had eagerly waited for and we all celebrated.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is building a more spacious semi permanent house which I had desired to have for the past two years but I couldn't afford. I had even tried to sell cattle in order to build a house but my efforts were unfruitful because all the money would end up in payment of school fees and food. I am also happy because I have food in abundance unlike before when we used to eat from hand to mouth. I am also happy because the heifer I bought once it multiplies will aid in school fees payment.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 25000 on building a two roomed semi permanent house with 24 Iron roofs. This is because the one I had was built over 20 years and the Iron roofs were old. I also spent KES 11,000 on a heifer as an addition to the four I had as a long-term investment for payment of school fees. I also spent KES 7200 school fees and on school uniforms. I also spent KES 7500 on three maize sacks in order to sustain us for longer period. I also spent KES 11,000 on latest clothing fashion because before we could only afford second hand clothes and KES 1200 on maize meal.
