How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have never gone without food ever since I received this transfer, I don't struggled for water like I used to during the dry seasons and I have a good house which makes me very happy.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Giving people cash directly to do what they want with was a great idea and has developed the community. There is nothing Give Directly is not doing well except for the community who are not educated hence they talk ill of Give Directly
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my transfer on buying bedding, pump sprayer, plastic chairs, iron sheet, water tank and food for my family. These are what I really needed in my house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I got my eyes. Since I bought the spectacles I have seen a big difference, I can even walk at night.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had been waiting for the money for quite sometimes and one day at 6.30 pm I heard my phone rung and when I checked the phone it was Mpesa message from GIveDirectly. I felt so relieved and couldn't wait for morning to go withdraw the money and buy spectacles.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used part of the first transfer to buy spectacles because I have an eye problem and the ones I had been already worn out. Part of the money I used to by building materials to renovate my house because it is old and one wall is already collapsed.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I had faced in life was difficulty in supporting myself due loss of my job after the demise of my mother. I had spent a lot of time attending to her while she was sick hence could not sustain my job.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is early in the morning when I wake up fresh and feel optimistic to accomplish my daily planned goals.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a lot to me since I shall use it to expand my sign writing business. From the business, I shall be able to earn extra income thus become independent.
