What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"Food is a major challenge for my family!
Currently, there is no food in the house.
My last son is disabled.
Since his birth, he hasn't crawled, walked or talked.
He's three years now and everything I've done has yielded no results.
The most recent place we took him, the lady requested $LRD 10, 000 for her to start his treatment.
Since I didn't have the money, I resulted to bringing him home.
With everything that's happening with my son, I don't go to the farm often because he needs special attention.
His brothers and sisters come from school before I can leave the house.
We take shift tending to his needs.
So, I wasn't unable to make farm this year.
The few times that I farm, I don't get much because of the ground hugs.
There's little or no crops to be sold from the produce.
Days goe by my family having enough to eat.
That's why of recent, I've really been looking forward to Givedirectly arrival to our community.
As I sit along the road and look at the motorbikes moving with the team to different towns each day, I pray that this town would be the next.
Finally, I can say that my prayers have been answered today!
My children and myself will have a new home very soon.
I'm very very excited today!"
What is the happiest part of your day?
"My best news for the past six months, months and years to come is the arrival of Givedirectly!
I'm happy that I don't know how to express it!
My life is one challenge after the next.
With this cash transfer, I'll build a house for my children and we all will live together in it!
My four children will return to me from their grandmother's.
I'll also use this morning to make sure that all my children are attending school.
My disabled son will also be provided medical attention with Givedirectly cash transfer because his situation is beyond worrisome for me.
He hasn't walked or talked since his birth and it's so much for me to bear as his mother.
He's being denied of his joy and happiness though he laughs and reacts to people; he doesn't get to participate in fun activities with his peers."
What does receiving this money mean to you?
"I have six children in total.
Their father left me 2010.
Since then, he has never looked back.
As it is, four of my children are not sleeping with me because of the unlimited space.
So, when I recieve the cash transfer from Givedirectly, I'll immediately have a house constructed so that my other children can return to me from my mother for us to live as a whole family.
I'll reserve the rest of the cash transfer for my children's fees."
