How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The cash transfers empowered me financially to complete the construction of the house. We are living in a more comfortable house compared to previously when we were staying under a grass thatched house which could not accommodate the whole family. Secondly, I am now a debt free person after clearing all the accrued debts.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to send people unconditional cash transfers without requesting for any kind of payment in return. GiveDirectly has only done great things for the community.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to plaster the inside of the house. I am planning to spend the balance on school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means, I will be able to buy a piece of land so as to increase my farming space.
This will increase food productivity in my home which will help me to take care of my household needs better.
I also hope to buy some cows that will reproduce and take care of my children's future needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the noon time when I am seated with the rest of the family members.
We have the opportunity to plan together as a family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty.
I have three children in secondary schools and to raise money to facilitate their education needs is a very big charllage.
I sell part of what I am able to harvest in order to raise money for them to go to school.
This leaves me with very little to feed on and as a result, food shortage.
