How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I also spent some of the money on buying maize thus I have enough stock. I thank Give Directly I have enough food for my family.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
The additional goals for my life for the next four months is to buy a goat for rearing. I thought of a goat because they are easy to look after and they multiply very fast. They will also act as financial security thus I can sell them when I have any financial crisis in the future.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
We have been lacking a latrine for a longer period of, this is because I lacked the capital to build one. It has been hectic every now an again going to a neighbors latrine. Therefore when I started receiving money from Give Directly I saved for a few months. I identified hardware near my home and took the money there for some time because I knew I could use the money at some point. When I was ready to start the building work, I looked for latrine builders, they gave me the quotation and went an ahead and picked building materials. I paid them and they did perfect work. The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is owning a latrine.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
An additional goal for my life for the next four months is to buy another goat for rearing. This is because I am planning to start a goat rearing project for future financial security.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I have acquired so many things in the past few months. First, I have been able to clear the outstanding fee balance my child had in school and I am glad the child now has ample time concentrating on the studies which will help her pass her exams. Second, I was able to buy building materials that I used to renovate my house wall which had some dents caused by the rains. Lastly, I can brag that my children and I can afford three healthy meals daily unlike before when we used to only eat one meal a day.

My additional goal is to save and start up a small business that would help in raising daily income for the family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life is that I have bought building materials like sand and cement that I used to plaster my house. My house is now in a good state now compared to when it was washed off with rains because it was semi-permanent. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for making my dream come true.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the six months, I shall have started the small business to help in generating income for the family upkeep. I also look forward to venturing into livestock rearing for the financial security of the family. I have always wanted to rear livestock to help raise income for my family whenever we have financial constraints.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different than it was four months ago because I am always able to acquire some household items that I did not have before. I have bought a suitcase bag for keeping my clothes thus they are currently kept safely and not exposed to dust. My clothes are always neat, well straightened thus I am always smart on them. Prior to buying a suitcase bag, I was always ashamed of putting on my clothes because they were not well kept.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to plaster my son's house which is currently not in good condition. The house was previously damaged by rains since my son joined college before his house was fully completed. I shall, therefore, use part of the transfers and other earnings to buy some bags of cement and sand for renovating it. It will thus be strong and long-lasting.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
In the last four months preceding the current transfers, the biggest difference in my daily life is being able to acquire school stationeries for my children. The transfers from GiveDirectly have greatly helped me since I do not need to borrow or ask someone to support me. In the past, it was hard even to raise 1000 KES in a month hence there were some school stationeries which I could not buy for my children.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to buy sheep and some chicken which I will keep for my financial security. I shall also be able to raise more livestock from these animals in the future. This will not only be of help to me but will also be a remembrance of the support I have been receiving from GiveDirectly.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am now able to make plans and save money for future use as opposed to the little cash I used to get by undertaking casual jobs in the village that also pay very little.

I want to save as much as I can in order to be able to pay school fees for one of my kids who will be joining high school next year.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Ever since I started receiving the cash from the organization, buying food for my family has never been so hard like it used to be before. I used to struggle so much to get food for my kids but right now I am always assured of some cash at the end of the month.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect to use the money in agriculture come next season by buying modern fertilizer and modern seedlings that will enable me have a bumper harvest at the end of the season.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
I am planning to build a shed for my livestock to keep them warm and safe at night.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different, I am able to use my pit latrine given that it has been completed and am not worried if visitors come to visit and use it.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I expect to have finished building my livestock shed and my livestock will have a warm place to rest over night safe from rains and wild animals . I also anticipate to buy a briefcase for my clothes that currently are lying on a chair.

The biggest difference is that I was able to plaster my pit latrine , a project that I had started earlier. This made me so happy now that it look presentable.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is paying my children's school fees. Am a mother of 7and at times raising school fees from my farm produce does not bring much.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Am always happy in the morning when i do my farm work, this energizes me knowing that I will yield good fruit from it to cater for my family basic needs.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I plan to spend my transfer in building a goat shade because there is high rate of stealing and this affects me since the goats help me in sorting out school fees for my children.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is my poultry farm. This has enabled me to sort family basic needs when things get tough.
