How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Previously, I had no access to fertile farm lands. However, I have been in position to hire farm land for agriculture. The cash transfers have also improved upon the family nutrition. We can afford to buy good food compared to the padt when we would eat only cassava and vegetables. We can now afford a balanced diet.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to send cash transfers to our community without any strings attached. I also like the fact that money is sent directly to the people. I do not see anything that GiveDirectly has not done well so far.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent UGX 1100000 to hire two pieces of farm lands. I spent UGX 200000 on household items such as mattress and utensils. I am planning to spend the remaining cash transfer on food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is different than it was before because I acquired bulls which are helping me plough my farm land on time. In addition, I have also gotten more mattresses for my family. Before this cash transfer, I cultivated late because I had to wait for the owners of the bulls to complete ploughing before I could hire and I had few mattresses which could not accommodate all us.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received money, I felt very happy because I knew that I was going to acquire some of the things I lacked like bulls for ploughing and household goods ( curtains and utensils)
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought 2 bulls worth UGX 1,200,000 and clothing/ household good ( suit case, a bag, utensils, mattress, pair of bed sheet and curtains) worth UGX 450,000. There is a balance of UGX 50,000 which I'm planning to spend on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My family really is in dare need of oxen and ox-plough for ploughing but all has never been fine due to high poverty levels at our home. Receiving givedirectly money will help me by my own oxen to facilitate easy and earlier tilling of land for planting crops. I believe this will increase production in my home and poverty may be no more.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My children have acted as an entertainment in the family whenever we are done with lunch. Iam able to chat and ask them how well they picked up with their studies at school that day. This happens in the afternoon hours since I do not have serious work.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Whenever I get money it's always a challenge to save because my children are sickly. The little I realise from casual labour that could help in providing other basic needs ends up being spent on treatment. This has made me unable to provide neccessities like Education, good shelter and so on to my children.
