How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different because we have a new house and a cow courtesy of GiveDirectly. We did not have these prior to GD, now we do and we are grateful. There are numerous GiveDirectly cows in our village. Almost every homestead has a cow because they bought cows using their funds from GD. Cows lately fill rivers in our village when people take them for watering. Initially they were countable.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my view, GiveDirectly does well by fulfilling the promise they gave us. They promised to send us cash directly. They did exactly that and we are grateful. I do not see something that GD does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used the second transfer that I received from GiveDirectly to plaster the house that I had used the first transfer to build. We had been living in a thatched earthen one and we felt we needed a better one. We are now doing the finishes soon to live in. A semi-permanent structure with plastered floor and stone walls. We also bought food that will last us for a while because we needed it.
