How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I was able to use part of the last four months transfer to purchase some of the household items (bedding, utensils, clothes, and foodstuffs). Previously I could barely afford these items and in most cases, I could borrow them from neighbours. It wasn't an easy task to keep asking most of these from neighbours and in most cases, some of the neighbours would talk ill of me for not being able to afford the items. I feel ashamed and this lowered my self-esteem. I currently feel so proud of myself for having made the big step. This is how different my life from the way it was four months ago.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a few plastic chairs which I normally hire out for payments. In most cases, I haven't been able to supply enough chairs to my clients forcing them to look for more from other people. I have the plans for purchasing more plastic chairs with the coming transfers so that I can have enough chairs to hire out. This will result in an improved income which will enable me to improve my family's living standards.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I bought two blankets with part of the recent transfer. Previously I had a small blanket that couldn't fit me and my younger child. In most cases, I could sacrifice the blanket to my baby and sleep in cold. This resulted in uncomfortable sleep due to the cold but I'm happy this is not the case anymore. We currently enjoy comfortable sleep because I no longer sleep in the cold.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Currently, I do not have a reliable source of income. The little income I earn from farming is mostly spent on food. I'm therefore planning to use the coming transfers to open a grocery shop. The additional income I'll be earning from the business will enable me to comfortably meet my household needs. In the next six months, I'm hopeful that the business will have picked.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Previously I used to strain so much when it comes to buying food and feeding the family but today things are much easier. I normally plan a lot with the monthly transfers so as to endure that we have enough food for the family that can take us through the whole month.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a goal of finishing my son house which is in a poor state. We had started building the house but then we stopped it at some point because we ran out of finances. I believe that it is time for us to do the final touches on the house so that it looks presentable and more durable.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I can say that the biggest difference in my life is that I was able to buy a set of plastic seats amounting to a total of twenty-five seats which I will be leasing out to needy customers at a small fee. In the event that I also have a host of visitors at my place then I can be able to use them without hiring from someone else.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will have changed to some extent because I will have bought new cooking pots which are quite expensive. For instance, I had already enquired about the price of one of the big cooking pots and I was told it goes for 3000 KES. I know that by the end of the year, I will have bought the items which I really need to have.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Four months ago, I was sleeping under the same roof with all my children including my teenage son. This was very uncomfortable as they had to squeeze in a small room that was only separated by a mere curtain from our bedroom. In the last few months, we were able to save these transfers as a family which we then used to purchase construction materials such as iron sheets, timber and nails which were used to construct a separate house for our children. This has given us more privacy as a family and the children feel free in their new house.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I was able to lease a farm which I plan to cultivate this season. I am planning to use the next few tranfers to hire labourers to help in weeding because the farm is too large to weed on my own. This is the main reason why I had the confidence to lease the piece of land because I knew I will be able to attend to it with ease. I hope that I will receive better harvest this time round.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that these transfers have enabled me to buy my children new clothes and other personal items that they did not have before. My lack of income did not allow me to buy better things for my children and they were always dressed in old tattered clothes. I feel happy when I see my children well and decently dressed.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I hope to start a business of my own in the near future with the hope of having my own source of income to sustain me especially after this project is over. I am quite used to having my own money now ever since I started receiving the monthly transfers. I do not wish to depend on my husband financially again hence the need to start my own business.
