How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
At the moment, my life has really changed. Way back, I didn't own any livestock of my own. The transfers assisted me to purchase some which include goats and dairy cows. This is a great investment in my life since I know in the near future, I will have some income from the sale of milk from my cows. Besides, the long-time benefit is that I will be able to sell them in the future to cater for my son's school fees. Besides, with the new sets of clothes I bought for my family, we currently have enough to exchange as compared to before
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly has really done a great job in assisting the poor in society. The transfers have made a great impact something is evident in almost everyone in my village. their selection method was superb and so I have nothing to criticize about it
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase four goats for rearing, some furniture for my house, a few clothing for my family and spent the remaining on foodstuff which includes some 2 bags of maize for consumption

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Buying milk has been my major problem as it is always costly especially during the drought seasons. I had always wished to buy a dairy cow but I knew that I could not achieve this due to lack of funds. Being able to buy a dairy cow makes me the happiest person and I am certain that my life will continue changing. When it reproduces, I will be getting milk for our consumption and for sale to earn an income. I will be using this money to pay for our bills and invest some in other projects. The calves will act as financial security to me since I can easily sell one in case of a financial crisis.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I realized that GiveDirectly had sent me some money in the morning after waking up. At that instant, my heart was filled with happiness as I knew that it was all God's doings in our lives. I then informed my family about the news and they were all happy as we started planning on how to spend it.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought a dairy cow worth KES 25000 using part of my first transfer from GiveDirectly. Buying milk has been my routine and my family is at times forced to take tea without milk when I do not have money. When this cow calves, I will not only get milk for our consumption but I will also e able to sell some to earn an income. Also, I bought two three-seater seats since my sitting room usually looked empty as I only had one seat. I had to always borrow seats from my neighbors whenever I had visitors. I used the remaining amount to buy some basic needs for my family. I bought some decent clothes, one sack of maize flour and other household necessities.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always desired to own my own cow. This is because I have been married for two years now and I am yet to pay dowry. Receiving this money therefore means that I will be able to buy a cow and as a result, I will have the means to pay dowry for my wife in the near future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning. This is because I feel energized to go and look for some work to do to cater for the needs of my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is that I don't have enough resources to cater for the basic needs of my family. As a result, I am forced to to look for casual labor such as digging in other people's farms so that I can get some money to buy food for my family.
