How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, I can say that my life has really taken a different shape. The fact that I have a whole acre of sugar cane plantation that is under my name makes a huge difference. I am sure of a good harvest and good income as well. This will help propel my stagnated projects. Before I could dream of achieving my goals but the best I ever had was casual jobs which its earnings were meant for day to day expenses in the household.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I have no records of GD doing anything bad. So far I have only seen a transformed, happy, and jovial people in the village. These are signs of the good that GD is doing in the families.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer on sugar cane farming. I survive entirely on farming and upon receiving my recent transfer I saw it wise to invest in farming for more returns. Besides sugar cane farming, I also bought a cow and I can now enjoy milk tea at the comfort of my house. I also managed to get myself a cupboard and now my utensils are well stored safe from dust and breakages.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I am not worried whenever it rains for my house no longer leaks and my roof is strong and firm. My nephew is at school with a nill fee balance, he can study with minimal disruptions this makes me a happy aunty. Above all, I am guaranteed a bumper harvest after the sugarcane maturity which will generate income to help meet my household needs.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was stuck and worried about how I was going to raise school fees for my nephew who is an orphan. When I received the transfers I felt relieved. It was like a heavy burden taken off my shoulder so I gave thanks to God and immediately set aside some amount for fees.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Upon receiving my first transfer, I did set aside some amount for my nephew's school fees come January as she resumes school. Besides the school fees, I used some amount to till my farm in preparation of sugarcane farming as the season nears. The sugarcane production will help me generate more income which will help meet my needs. The remaining amount was used to purchase new iron sheets. The roof of my house was blown away by the winds so I decided to replace it with a new one to sort the leaking problem that was there even before the roof was blown away.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to enroll my son in college. I have been having difficulty in raising my sons college fees and this transfer is enough to pay for all his course at the polytechnic to pursue motor vehicle mechanic. It is in doing this that will enable him to get employed upon completion and he shall also be able to assist the family in educating his siblings.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is usually in the evening after sharing the meal with my family. It is during this time that I rest after having spent all my day in the farm weeding to get money to buy food for the family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is lack of enough food for my family. My family depends on daily earnings from weeding peoples farms yet sometimes after weeding we are promised pay for the following day.
