How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal was to start rearing beef animals for sale in the future. I am glad that the transfers from Givedirectly has supported me towards improving this goal.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly is very fair in their work. Everyone who met the criteria in the village received their transfers like they were promised. They promised and they kept their word!
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With my quest to to run a beef rearing business, I was able to add two young bulls to the few that I already have. My plan is to keep these bulls and sell them in the near future to the beef market for an income.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I got a message notification from my phone around 7 Am. I was taking my breakfast at home, When I checked it out it was a message confirming that I have received money from GiveDirectly I felt so happy because I have never received such an amount of money before. My family members too were so happy and we all celebrated with lots of joy. I knew I would be able to fulfill my dream of investing in a livestock family. I withdrew the money after two days.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is purchasing two oxen. I had always wished to start a livestock project but I did not have the money. I am a shoe shiner in the town near home. This is my main source of income to feed my family. I had no savings or other source of income to start the livestock project. My main goal is to sell this ox in the future at a higher price. I will use the money to purchase a piece of land to do horticulture farming. Currently, I will use them in plowing my farm. I will cut the cost of plowing and use the money on other household items. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has improved our standard of living and enabled us fulfilled our dreams.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 35,000 on purchasing two oxen. This was one of my main priorities. I would be able to sell them in the future at a higher price to purchase a piece of land. Meanwhile, I will use it in plowing my farm for planting. The rest of the money I spent on food and other household items. I am so grateful because I have fulfilled my dream of owning livestock.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My ambition is to be a renown large scale dairy farmer. My mother is a single mother who was allocated a small piece of land by our grandparents. This land is too small for all of us to share.I am the first born with 6 siblings who all look upto me.Buying a dairy cow will enable us own a piece of land. This will be facilitated through the sale of the herd of cattles gotten from the multiplication of the two dairy cows I wish to purchase.Receiving this money therefore means asset accumulation and stability in my family within the next 3 years.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My little angel is a living miracle in my life. This little girl gives me the need to live amidst all these challenges.Despite being dumped in a pit latrine for a whole night by her ruthless mother she has lived a healthy and happy live up to her forth year now.Her health and happiness has brought immense joy in my life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Mental stability is the biggest challenge am currently facing. My first wife left me mysteriously in the year 2018 after dumping our firstborn child in the pit latrine. This shocked me because we did not have any conflicts within the family. As a result of loneliness I decided to get married in 2019 hoping that I would find peace and move on with life little did I know that the worst of the worst would happen to me(sobbing). My second wife passed on in November last year while delivering due to too much bleeding . All these consequential events give me worries about what fate has concerning me.
